HEALTH PROJECTS

Amigos efforts focus on health education and outreach in the schools and community. Our local health post provides clinical services and a immunization program for infants and youth. Clinic staff visit the school to give talks on hygiene, and general health education. Amigos, along with our sister organization, Feed the Dream, provide nutritional snacks to all children, daily vitamins, daily toothbrushing and hand-washing. We’ve also built two new bathrooms to serve the 400 school children.

ECO-WATER FILTERS

Amigos helps distribute Eco-Filters to all families in Santa Cruz and surrounding villages. These filters are easy to use and inexpensive source for clean drinking water in the homes. Women participate in a training session before receiving the filters, and learn about how to insure better health for their children through better hygiene practices. Since this program began in April of 2006, the rate of intestinal illnesses such as diarrhea and parasites, has dropped markedly among the families. for more information on Ecowater Filters, please visit
